I've drank syrup a couple of times back in high school when I was short on bud, but I never truly discovered DXM until about 2 weeks ago.
When I discovered it more properly, I went in with research and proper preparation this time. The come-up was about an hour, and the nausea was managed with some ginger tea I had prepared.
The second plateau is where DXM really shines for me. It's not like a psychedelic trip — there's no visual complexity or profound revelations. Instead, it's like your consciousness shifts to a different channel. Music becomes three-dimensional. Your body feels weightless. And there's this curious double-vision of reality where you're simultaneously in your room and somewhere else entirely.
I found myself having these incredibly vivid closed-eye "journeys" — not quite hallucinations, more like waking dreams that I could partially direct. Walking to the bathroom felt like navigating a spaceship. Every movement was deliberate and strange.
The experience lasted about 5 hours from onset to feeling mostly normal. I slept well and woke up with the classic DXM afterglow — this unusual clarity and contentment that lasted into the afternoon.
I plan to continue exploring, but I'm committed to keeping usage spaced out. The temptation to chase the afterglow is real.
