After months of research I finally took the plunge with 25mg of 4-AcO-DMT in a gel cap on a mostly empty stomach. I had experience with LSD and mushrooms but this was my first time with a research chemical tryptamine.
Onset was gradual — around 40 minutes I noticed surfaces starting to shift and breathe. By one hour I was in full psychedelic territory. The visual quality was remarkably similar to psilocybin mushrooms but with what I would describe as more 'digital' precision to the geometry.
The body load was comfortable with waves of warmth flowing through my limbs. Music sounded incredible — every note seemed to carry emotional weight. My friend and I had some of the most meaningful conversations of our friendship during the peak, sharing vulnerabilities and laughing at the absurdity of existence.
The closed-eye visuals were spectacular. Vast landscapes of impossible geometry in rich jewel tones that responded to music. At one point I felt like I was traveling through a cathedral made of living mathematics.
The experience lasted about 5 hours total with a gentle return to baseline. No nausea, no difficult body load, and a beautiful afterglow the next day. I understand now why the community holds this substance in such high regard. It felt honest, warm, and deeply meaningful.
