Not very inspirational, but hopefully it'll remind some of you how bad our disease gets.
I've been sober for a long time and relapsed on Tuesday. I went on a "walk" to get liquor after drinking for the whole day. After not coming home, my girlfriend went to look for me (knowing that I relapsed). She found me unconscious on a curb and gave me CPR while the ambulance was on the way because I was barely breathing.
My BAC was over .6 and I was put on a feeding tube and breather for 12 hours while still unresponsive. Every doctor that I saw told me how lucky I was that my girlfriend found me because I was minutes away from dying.
I'm posting this to get it off my chest and hopefully inspire some of you who are struggling to stay sober today. I'm so grateful for my girlfriend's continued support, my life, and to be reminded why I chose to stop drinking in the first place.
