I have been running a Reishi + Lion's Mane stack for six months now and wanted to share my experience because these two mushrooms complement each other remarkably well.
The rationale: Lion's Mane for cognitive function and NGF stimulation (morning), Reishi for immune support and sleep quality (evening). The timing makes pharmacological sense — Lion's Mane can be mildly stimulating in some people, while Reishi promotes sleep.
Month 1: The Lion's Mane effects were more immediately noticeable — improved focus, better verbal fluency, clearer thinking. The Reishi effects were, as expected, subtler. Sleep started improving around week 3.
Months 2-3: This is where the combination really shines. I had the cognitive clarity of Lion's Mane during the day and the deep, restorative sleep of Reishi at night. The two create a positive feedback loop — better sleep supports better cognition, and less daytime brain fog reduces nighttime anxiety.
Months 4-6: I went through a particularly stressful period at work (restructuring, long hours, high anxiety). In the past, periods like this would have wrecked my sleep, tanked my immune system, and left me foggy and reactive. This time: sleep held up, I stayed healthy, and while I was definitely stressed, my capacity to handle it felt measurably higher than it would have been a year ago.
The stack is not cheap — I spend about $70/month on quality products for both. And I cannot perfectly isolate which mushroom is doing what. But the combination feels synergistic rather than merely additive.
One tip: take Reishi with food. On an empty stomach, it gave me mild nausea for the first couple of weeks. With food, zero GI issues.
