The changes feel smooth and organic, as though one is watching a slow-motion shape-shifting process. The effect is particularly pronounced with faces, which may cycle through different ages, ethnicities, species, or archetypal forms while one watches.
At threshold levels, transformations appear as subtle, fleeting shifts in the perceived character of objects — a slight animal quality to a face, a momentary impression that a tree looks like a person. At moderate intensities, clear and sustained transformations occur: faces visibly morph and shift between different appearances, objects take on recognizably different identities, and the environment undergoes continuous reinterpretation.
