I've been a regular edible cannabis user for years and I've always underestimated the psychedelic properties of it until recently. I never hear people here discussing how incredibly psychedelic cannabis can be when used the right way except in my last post about my psychedelic experience with cannabis. Take this with a grain of salt, but in short, cannabis allowed me to climb the stairway to heaven, meet two gods (at different times: the green goddess and some clean cut middle aged dude that looked like David Sirota), jump up in to the David Sirota dude's head and then feel as if I am a god, become conscious of microscopic processes happening in my body, travel through dimensions and observe the relationships between them (DMT realm, universal intelligence, fractal nature of the universe).
I'm making this post because I think many other psychonauts are underestimating cannabis' psychedelic properties as well. I've gathered some information from my own experience with it and from some other people, so you can try it on your own.
Some tips for using it as a psychedelic:
People who haven't previously taken other psychedelics probably won't have psychedelic experiences on cannabis.
The most important thing is to stop using cannabis for a week or perhaps more to reset your tolerance to cannabis. Just like other psychedelics, repeatedly using it reduces the psychedelic effect.
High THC and lower CBD/CBN is crucial. CBD has "anti-psychotic" effects and CBN has sedative effects, so you want to minimize that. I use edibles, and the "Punch Bar" works perfectly. It's 72mg THC, <2mg CBD, <1mg CBN per "serving." It's a legal product in California.
If you don't feel like you took too much, you didn't take enough. 1.5-2.6g of my Punch Bar is the perfect dosing range for me; that should be about 12.5 to 25mg of THC. I don't have a strong tolerance to cannabis.
I've been starting a lot of my LSD trips with eye shades, but I've only recently figured out that wearing that prevents my third eye from opening. Instead, lay on a bed in a dark room. Spiritual/classical/calming music recommended.
Surrendering is key, just like with other psychedelics. It's not very hard to surrender on these high doses due to how intense it is, but I seem to forget to surrender more often on cannabis than on LSD, so watch out for that. You need to surrender at many layers to continue your transcendence, and it's easy to fall off the wagon and start resisting again. My muscles seem to start twitching part way into this, and once I surrender to my muscle twitching, I reach a calm, blissful state.
From this point, just let your mind run freely, and there's absolutely no telling what you'll experience.
Areas of exploration:
These cannabis sessions seem to allow my consciousness to travel through my brain and other parts of my body to communicate with them, observe their functioning, and alter their functioning. It's as if the CEO (my consciousness) marched down from his office to conduct a performance review with an employee (a neuropathway) that is causing issues for the rest of the company (the community of organisms and cells that make up my body). That's not just a metaphor though, I actually experience these things as personified. Perhaps there is an incredible healing power to this. If you really can become conscious of your body's processes at such a level, can you cure your own diseases? Sounds too good to be true, but it's something worth exploring. Modern science would dismiss you instantly if you even claimed such a thing is possible, but perhaps ancient cultures knew about cannabis' healing properties but it was lost to time. LSD seems to allow me to see dysfunctional mental processes in action and address them, which is why it has so many mental benefits. Cannabis seems to allow me to do the same, but for my entire body, so it doesn't seem to be too far of a stretch. I think there's a very real possibility that this can be used for incredible self improvement.
Cannabis's ability to allow you to travel through dimensions might allow us to uncover some real truth about the fabric of reality.
Like most psychedelics, my ability to just generally think about world issues in this state of mind is incredible because it allows me to see connections and understand the world as a system. I was listening to an Abby Martin interview later on in my last trip, and it was quite profound.
I'm still new to exploring this, so I haven't fully explored its potential.
Another bonus is that I don't feel the need to use cannabis habitually anymore. I have a much greater respect for it. The afterglow after one of these intense cannabis trips is great. My body feels incredible the next day, and I crush my weightlifting workouts. It also gave me a much greater appreciation for my sober state.
Remember to wait at least a week in between sessions for best results.
Warning: This is not an easy thing to handle. I would not recommend doing this if you have a weak heart. My heart rate gets up quite high during the come-up and peak, but it goes back down to normal once I surrender. The come-up and peak are more difficult to handle (until you surrender and transcend) than LSD. If you aren't careful, you could become one of the hundred thousands of people per year who go to the hospital because they took too much cannabis. I'd only do this if you have a trip sitter OR you have a decent amount of experience with the basic effects of cannabis and surrendering on other psychedelics. Remember some basic calming techniques: lay on bed, listen to calming music, put your hands over your head, breathe deeply and audibly breathe out. Sniffing black pepper is supposed to reduce cannabis anxiety. Drink a lot of water. Remember that noone has died from a cannabis overdose and you will come back from whatever journey you're on. If you keep all of that in mind, you'll probably be fine.
P.S. The green goddess of cannabis does not like to be abused. She is absolutely lovely, but she is a little unsure of herself. She deserves love, appreciation, and respect.
Good luck exploring.
