I have used Delta-8 gummies a handful of times at 10-25mg with pleasant results. A friend gave me a gummy that turned out to be 50mg — I did not check the label until afterward. The packaging was nearly identical to my usual 25mg brand.
T+0:00 — Ate the gummy. Did not think twice about it.
T+1:00 — Started to feel effects. Stronger than usual from the start. A heavy warmth settled over my body like a weighted blanket.
T+1:30 — This is more than I bargained for. My heart rate is noticeably elevated. My thoughts are moving slower than I would like. I tried to text a friend and had to retype the message three times because I kept losing my train of thought.
T+2:00 — I am very high. Higher than I have been from Delta-8 before. The room feels slightly tilted. When I close my eyes there are faint geometric patterns — nothing elaborate, just a gentle visual noise that I have never experienced from Delta-8 at my usual dose. Mild nausea.
T+2:30 — The anxiety that Delta-8 is supposed to lack has arrived. My heart is pounding and I am acutely aware of it. I keep checking my pulse. I know intellectually that this will pass and that no one has died from THC, but the physical sensations are uncomfortable. Drank water, ate some crackers, put on a nature documentary for grounding.
T+3:30 — The peak is passing. The anxiety is diminishing. Replaced by a deep lethargy and appetite. Ate significantly.
T+5:00 — Functional again but tired. Residual body heaviness.
T+8:00 — Still not quite baseline. Went to bed early and slept 10 hours.
Lesson learned: dose matters enormously with Delta-8 edibles, and the claim that "it cannot make you anxious" is not true at higher doses. Delta-8 is gentler than Delta-9 at equivalent doses, but if you take enough of it, you will absolutely experience the unpleasant effects of THC intoxication. Always check your dose.
