For NYE, I had a cosy room full of eight of us, with the intention of six of us trying our first Nexus Flip. Seven of us have done MDMA before, five of us have done 2CB but not in a nexus flip. I’m aware the recommended approach is to try both drugs seperately first, and did communicate that to the group, but NYE lowers inhibitions and we went for it anyway. Intention was to use 2cb to alleviate the MDMA comedown and hangover, which is quite intense for a few of us.
Everyone apart from me are the same size, so dosage of MDMA was 100/50mg for them, and 130/60mg for me. 2cb for those doing it was 15mg (found that to be a good starting point), and 20mg for me (that’s my sweet spot). I’ve seen some people say MDMA potentiates 2CB but I figured it’s all relative.
Timing was 10pm for first MDMA dose, 11:30pm for redose, and 1ish for 2CB.
The MDMA part was predictably lovely - by 10:45pm, we were all in a heap on the floor, cuddling and talking. We missed the midnight fireworks because we were so in love with each other. By 12pm, pretty much everyone was taking it in turns to kiss, clothes came off, typical fare for a home MDMA party. Everything was perfect. The magic has definitely returned (see my last post).
At 1ish, my 2cb alarm went off just as people were starting to feel “I could be higher”. So those of us doing the 2cb took it, and we resumed cuddling.
Here’s where things got weird. My 20mg dose usually brings with it some intense visuals and trippy thoughts and giggles. 25mg I found before to be a “stay at home” dose. 15mg usually gives me some mild euphoria, higher definition vision, and music sounds really deep. Using this scale and what I’ve read online, I would estimate that the effects of my 20mg 2cb dose last night was more like 35+mg. I didn’t get any visuals (other than my vision became blurred, but this could be from the MDMA comedown). Instead, I would trail off in conversation, I would forget I had said something, very much like a heavy dose of cannabis. Movement was fun, very floaty and slow. Time itself stopped being a thing, it felt like time had stopped entirely at one point. It was not entirely pleasant, but not UNpleasant. It was not what I was expecting at all.
For my partner, she did 15mg, her usual dose. Usually at 15mg, she has intense visuals and everything is funny, and 18mg is the same visuals but more thought gaps and difficulty to follow conversation, so she sticks to 15mg. However, as part of the nexus flip, her 15mg kicked in within ten minutes (standard for her), and she turned to me and said, “I am really fucking tripping right now” before collapsing in a heap, staring at the walls, which were changing colour rapidly, and everything looked cartoony. She remained there for the rest of the night. She later compared it to a shrooms trip, but fortunately without the headspace. Similar experience for our friend who is similar to me in terms of tolerance, but she was having a similar, highly visual experience as my girlfriend.
Two other girls were just joining us for MDMA, and left about 2am, as they had originally planned. It was so lovely to have them there for that part though.
The two guys in the group, one had done 2cb before and the other hadnt. The first one was also on SSRIs (yes, I know, he knew the risks) and his MDMA trip was... okay, not strong. 15mg 2cb didn’t have much of an effect on him in the flip, but his usual dose was 20mg. I think the MDMA experience ended much earlier for him because of SSRIs and the 2cb was too mild. He left at 3ish because he was bored of watching us all stare into space.
The 2cb newbie had just been dumped by his girlfriend over text a few minutes after he dropped MDMA, so he was quite quiet. He had some lovely talks with people and seemed happy, but obviously he wasn’t really enjoying it as much as we were. I think he took 2cb because he wasn’t ready to get back to normality. Because he was quiet, I don’t know what his first experience with 2cb was like, but he fell asleep at 4am with the rest of us, so it must have been okay.
That leaves us with the complete newbie to both MDMA and 2cb. It was SO CUTE to see her enjoying pure bliss for the first time. Before her cuddling started, she lay in the fetal position on the floor, next to the speakers, massive grin on her face, for a good 30 mins. We were briefly worried but she said she was feeling amazing. When she moved, she cuddled and kissed with everyone but favoured me and my girlfriend, and we MAY have arranged a threesome on a future date. Her and my girlfriend have been dating for a while, but usually neither of them are very forward with their advances. I suggested to her that she go cuddle with my girlfriend and have a talk (MDMA is the truth drug). They disappeared for a while, came back downstairs, she cuddled me again, and said “we had a talk. We’re gonna be more forward about what we want to do, even if saying it feels awkward. We’re going to have sex the next time we meet.” So she (and my girlfriend) had a great time and made huge leaps.
Anyway, not really the point of this post. Newbie girl then dropped 2cb with the rest of us. It took a while for her to notice anything, but then went to the bathroom to throw up (strangely, she had been fine with the MDMA). When she came back downstairs, I think she was just getting the time dissolution, but she seemed pretty blissed out so didn’t want to disturb that. It was her first time with both drugs (previous experience was weed which she didn’t enjoy) so it would all lump into together for her. She fell asleep at 4am too.
This morning, we all woke up around 11am, feeling tired, but THATS all. No MDMA hangover, even with the person who usually gets migraines the day after. The fact that we slept through from 4 til 11 is absolutely amazing, I’ve never done that on MDMA. I was still tripping a bit when I did get up, but that faded quickly. Had a few power naps through the day but feeling pretty normal/great.
So, lessons learned: always do a nexus flip when taking MDMA. It was all the best bits of MDMA but without the negative after-effects. BUT, lower the fucking dosage of 2cb, Jesus Christ that was fucking intense. Again, not completely unpleasant. Just not expected. I thought we’d slip into giggly chat about the intricacies of grapes, but it knocked us out instead.
